The design utilizes a two-layer roof system. The primary inner canvas tent creates an insulated living space, while a heavy-duty outer flysheet extends beyond the deck margins to shed rainwater and block direct solar heat. The air layer between the two roofs keeps the interior cool during peak daytime temperatures.

The tent sits on a raised timber platform accessed via a side staircase. The lower section beneath the deck is fitted with a dark mesh skirt that conceals the structural support posts while preventing wildlife from nesting under the floor. The front deck is enclosed by timber posts and wire-rope tensioned railings, creating a secure outdoor viewing area.
